About Us

MII is led by a Director, 8 Associate Directors, Administrative and Technical Staff. The MII administrative activities are organized around several organizational units, as shown below.  Each of these units are directed by a pair of Associate Directors, who share the responsibilities of the unit and sit on the Council of Directors.   In addition to the Associate Directors of the permanent units, individuals in charge of exceptionally large research programs may be invited to have a seat on the Council of Directors when deemed appropriate by the Council. 

The Steering Committee is made up primarily of MII faculty members from several departments and colleges who serve as leaders for the four research thrusts.  Oversight of MII is provided by the MII Advisory Board made up of several university administrators and faculty.  Internally, MII reports to the Office for Research and Graduate Studies.
