2009 Virginia Tech
Polymer Symposium
July
16-18, 2009
Blacksburg, Virginia, USA
Virginia Tech is recognized world over as a powerhouse for polymer
science research with as many as 50 faculty members now involved in
polymer related research. A key event in Interdisciplinary Polymer
Science at Virginia Tech was the founding of the Polymer Materials
and Interfaces Laboratory (PMIL) in 1978 by Jim McGrath, Garth
Wilkes, and Tom Ward. Although these three Professors were
responsible for originating the polymer program many professors at
Virginia Tech and their graduate students have made contributions to
polymer science through the interdisciplinary programs in the
science and engineering departments over the years at Virginia Tech.
Through the many contributions of the multitude of faculty at
Virginia Tech, generations of polymer scientists have been mentored
and gone on to successful academic and industrial careers.
This
symposium is an opportunity for Virginia Tech Polymer Science alumni
from all over the world to gather to renew friendships, make new
friends and celebrate all that has happened in polymer science at
Virginia Tech over the past 30 years.
Please plan on joining us this summer for what we hope is the first
of a series of meetings and reunions to be held in the future.
