Macromolecular Science and Engineering Program

Harry W. Gibson

Dr. Harry W. Gibson
Professor of Chemistry

Dr. Gibson's general research interests range from synthetic to physical (e.g., kinetic, mechanistic studies of organic and polymeric materials, typically with a view toward developing molecular design criteria for tailored physical and/or chemical characteristics). The present research activitiesin the Gibson group can be divided into four major areas: Novel DendriticSystems Formed from Macrocyclic and Cryptand Units, Controlled/ "Living" Free Radical Polymerizations at Surfaces, Polyrotaxane Systems and Networks, and Supramolecular Structural Self Assembly.
