Supporting MII

Although the commonwealth does provide funding to Virginia Tech, that funding represents only a small portion of the university's yearly budget. Private giving is essential in helping to provide student scholarships, to support and attract qualified faculty, and to fund a wide range of important programs and initiatives. In short, private gifts help ensure that Virginia Tech students receive a quality education and help keep the university competitive with other top institutions. Your support is needed now more than ever. State budget shortfalls have impacted all of VT's colleges, as well as the Institutes.

Gifts can be designated to any area of the university. Donors have the choice of directing their support to any of Virginia Tech's eight colleges, a department, a program, an Institute, or any special initiative. Please designate all or part of your gift to the "Macromolecules and Interfaces Institute at Virginia Tech".  You can securely make a pledge, make a payment on an existing pledge, make a gift using your credit card, making a planned gift or using electronic funds transfer from your checking account, via the online pledging form.  (On-line Pledge form)

If you are affiliated with a company that matches contributions to higher education, your gift to Virginia Tech may be matched, doubled, or -- in some instances -- more than doubled. Since many employers consider matching gifts an employee benefit, your human resource department or personnel office is your best source for more information about your company's matching gift policies and procedures. For more information about how matching gifts can benefit Virginia Tech, see matching gifts on the Ways to Give webpage. Virginia Tech receives over $1 million each year in "free money" due to company matching gifts, thanks to donors who request the form from their participating employer and send it to Virginia Tech with their gift. Virginia Tech takes it from there and follows up with the company to receive the "match".
